Panama Canal
Is the Panama Canal the 8th wonder of the world? On Thursday, June
16th at 7:00 p.m., we will explore the miracle of the Panama
Canal. Beginning in the late 19th Century and continuing into the
20th Century were forces that shaped this nation’s need for
transportation between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. As a
result of the Spanish American war of 1898 and growing commerce on
the West Coast, the railroads were not capable of handling the
increased demand for freight and passengers. Theodore Roosevelt
changed the path of the future by his bold leadership. Join us at
the Anthem Center for an insightful view of this engineering
wonder. All residents are welcome.

Sun City Anthem Fitness update!
Modern living imposes stresses and strains on
all of us - physical, mental, and emotional. One of the first
things we neglect to do when stressed is to exercise. However,
research has proven that exercise is a tremendous relaxation aid.
Regular exercise frees your mind and your body; it can improve
mood, increase self-esteem, reduce anxiety, promote sleep, reduce
high blood pressure, and help weight loss. The Sun City Anthem
Independence Center offers a variety of Group Exercise classes to
assist in relieving your stress.
PILATES - is a physical therapy that works on different muscles to
tone and condition the body, while developing correct breathing,
good posture, and mental concentration and focus. It improves
balance, coordination, and flexibility, and streamlines the body.
It is a great way of changing your body shape for the better
without creating muscle bulk.
YOGA - can help you to improve your physical health, tone your
muscles and internal organs, relieve inner tension, reduce weight,
and strengthen your bones. But it not only works on your body, it
also guides you toward relaxation and shows you how to become more
balanced, centered, and calm. It is whole-life philosophy which
teaches that attaining control over the body is the key to
controlling the mind. Mastering the art of relaxation and learning
how to breathe 'properly' are two of the most important aspects of
yoga. Once you have mastered these skills, you will experience a
positive, healthy outlook on life.
MEDITATION - is an important element of yoga, too, but it is of
course also a therapy in its own right, and there is more to it
than just relaxation. Meditation can be used to restrain the
wanderings or "chatter" of the mind, so that you can bring
yourself back to full awareness and experience things as they
really are. Meditation can improve your concentration, increase
your self-awareness, and combat stress in your everyday life by
helping you to relax and cope. Meditation can improve physical and
mental well-being and can be a route to inner harmony.
EXERCISE - JUST DO IT

THANK YOU!
I am grateful to have been elected to the SCA Board of Directors.
I feel honored and privileged to represent the residents of our
community. I wish to thank everyone who supported my candidacy. I
ask that all residents join in support of our new board, so that
we may work together with unity of purpose, and one shared
objective, the common good of our Anthem community.
Regards,
Lyndall F. Ruiz
SCACAI Board Member
Dear Fellow Residents,
The election is now over and you have decided upon those
candidates who will lead the Association during transition. As one
of them, I would like to thank all of you for your outstanding
support. I am certain that the other candidates will do so as
well. You have selected a very talented team. I am happy and proud
to be associated with them on the new Board of Directors.
To be the President of the Association during this critical time
is a great honor that my fellow Board members have given me.
Leadership is granted by the people based on mutual respect, and
is not to be taken lightly. I will do my utmost to live up to your
trust and expectations.
Transition is the most important and critical time in our history,
and consequently needs to be done right. It is, therefore, my
prime goal. I am absolutely committed to devote whatever it takes
of my energy to achieve it. The high expectations of the residents
are recognized and understood by the members of your Board. It is
important for the entire community to pull together and support
the Board’s efforts in achieving a successful transition.
Change is inevitable with both Wendy Linow (our new Community
Manager) and a resident controlled board coming together at the
same time. I am positive that any change will be for the
betterment of the community. It is perfectly natural for people to
be a little apprehensive about change, since there are always some
unknowns. One way to help everyone through this period is with
extra communication. Several alternatives are being considered,
and we will let you know shortly how the Board will implement more
timely and future looking communications.
The future is what we make it! The talented team you selected is
familiar with many of the concerns the Association faces and will
be addressing them quickly and positively. With your help and
support I am looking forward to a hugely successful transition.
Regards,
Dave Weil
