Sun City Homes Vandalized

It was noted at Thursday's Board of Directors meeting that Dick Cancellier was not present to give his Committee report due to working with the City of Henderson Police investigating "vandalism."

Last evening, I received the following message from Ben Urban, one of the victims.

We live at 2691 Evergreen Oaks Drive. As your Security forces know, there was a vandalism incident on July 28, 2005 at several homes in the Upper Canyon Crest area including our home. Primarily the external phone line junction boxes were ripped off and the phone lines cut. Oil was also sprayed or dumped into the phone line ducts and on a portion of the stucco surrounding the phone line junction box. This morning (July 29, 2005) we also discovered that the wires to our irrigation solenoid had been cut and our irrigation water supply valve had been shot off. We notified some of our affected neighbors of this discovery so that they could check their systems. Not every affected party knows this because we do not know the extent of the incident, which we have heard, was from between 14 to 18 homes.

Our near-by neighbor Stan Ackers who resides at 1893 Holdenville Street was on the telephone at approx. 11:00 am on the day of the incident when his phone line went dead. We assume that the vandal cut his lines at that time. We had left our home at about 10:50 am on that day with two guests who had been visiting. As we drove down Evergreen Oaks Drive towards Point Pleasant about nine houses down the street from our home we noticed a clean cut young man who we assumed at the time was either a Mormon Missionary or salesman crossing the street and going toward the entry of a resident’s home on Evergreen Oaks Drive.

Description

The man was a white male. He was wearing a white long sleeved shirt and wore long dark trousers He was carrying what looked to be some paper work but it was hard to tell if that was truly the case. He had blond/brown hair that was neatly trimmed. He was approximately 6 feet tall and weighed in the range of 190 pounds. We would estimate him to be in his late 20’s or early 30’s but this is only a guess. We just caught a profile glance at him because he did not look directly in our direction. We did not notice any vehicles parked on Evergreen Oaks Drive or any other individuals on the Street at that time.

When we returned home at 4:00 pm there was a card from the Henderson Police Department that indicated that the east side of our home had been vandalized and to call police for a vandalism report. Several of our neighbors then gave us an update regarding what had occurred in the neighborhood.

We hope this information can be of use to you in your investigation.

Ben and Rose Urban
