Sun City Anthem Gardening Club meeting date revised
Anthem Center
September 13, 2005 9:00 a.m.

Popular horticulturist and author, Linn Mills will be our speaker for our September meeting of the Garden Club. The question which residents most frequently ask us is "What Will Grow Here?" Linn has a lot of answers to this question:-)

Linn's excellent book, "Nevada Gardener's Guide", can be helpful for anyone planning or maintaining a garden in Anthem. The newly revised 2004 edition (272 pages) has large color photographs on the same page as the text for each annual, perennial, bulb, cactus, ornamental grass, palm, ground cover, rose, shrub, vine and tree. All are rated for suitability of each region of Nevada from Elko to Henderson.

If you would like to purchase a copy at the meeting, Linn will be pleased to sign it for you.

On top of all that, Linn is an excellent and humorous speaker. Bring your questions for the lively Q&A session.

Also bring something from your garden to show, tell, or question. There will be a drawing for those who bring something from their garden, live or dead, flora or fauna:-)

Join us for coffee and socialization at 9:00 a.m. with Linn's presentation starting at 9:30 a.m.

According to SCACA Rules, non members are welcome to attend two meetings as guests.

Bob Connelly
President, Gardening Club

P.S. In case you did not hear, Linn participated in our tour to the Master Gardener's Orchard and Turner Greenhouses on May 24th. We had a total attendance of 37, requiring two mini busses. Linn rode out in one bus and returned in the other and was available for discussions and questions en route and at the Orchard and Greenhouses, to the delight of all attendees. Even the bus drivers joined the small guided groups as they toured the Orchard.

Anthem Authors

A limited number of copies of the paperback style book are available for sale at $10 each and can be ordered by placing your check and contact information in the Anthem Authors Club mailbox at the Community Center or contacting any active member.
