City of Henderson
Citizens Traffic Advisory Board (CTAB) meeting
After a lengthy hearing this evening, the CTAB
reversed their prior decision to reduce the speed limits on Sun
City Anthem Drive and Anthem Parkway (The loop) thus clearing the
way for 45 MPH signs to replace the temporary 35 MPH signs that
have been in place during their study. However, it was stated that
if any person challenges the decision, the next step is for the
City Council to consider the subject at a regularly scheduled
meeting.
The extensive radar studies before and
during the temporary reduction showed virtually no change in
average speeds of vehicles traveling the loop. The range was from
49 to 51 MPH.
The City's survey forms were included as inserts in newsletters to
Anthem Highlands, Solera at Anthem, and Sun City Anthem. The
tabulated results are:

Don't those percentages look close to those in
my
February 2005 online survey? That was derided as being
unscientific—too small a sampling, captive audience, etc.
That survey resulted in 66% for 45 MPH and 34% for 35 MPH.

Golf Carts and Low Speed/Neighborhood Electric Vehicles
Some tricky differentiations here. In spite of
what we have been told, Nevada law permits Golf Carts on streets
with posted speeds of 45 MPH! Low Speed/ Neighborhood Electric
Vehicles are only permitted on streets with posted speeds of 35
MPH and below. Before you set out on Anthem Parkway, the Nevada
DMV provides information regarding these vehicles at:
