Security Patrol Chief on Rumors...

There has been a rash of rumors flying around our community and I would like to give you the facts about them.

  1. There has been no police report or complaint filed about a women being raped in our community.
  2. There were no mailboxes broken into this past weekend. The fact is that the mail carrier could not secure the mailbox so the mail was returned to the post office.
  3. The Henderson Police Department has not arrested any one in connection with the tree cutting and no one is making restitution. In fact 20 more trees were cut this past weekend.
  4. There was no homeless man found dead. A man visiting a resident died of natural causes.

If you hear a rumor ask the person passing it onto you what is the basis of the rumor; was a police report filed, by who and what is the case #. If they don’t know call the Henderson Police Department for verification.

I believe that the latest tree cutting is the result of the rumor going around about someone being arrested. The tree cutter is proving to us that he is still around.

If you are aware of a crime being committed call the Police Department and our office in that order.

$3.99 per gallon! Holy #*#%&**! Hey “Boomer,” still looking to buy an RV?

Yes! Says UNLV RV 101 Instructor
Even as gasoline prices eclipse $3.00 per gallon, with some predicting $5 per gallon before the new year, baby boomers keep edging toward retirement; many of them with the dream of hitting the open road in a house on wheels.

  • Is their dream doomed by the ever-escalating price of gas?
  • Will they have to settle for a pup tent in the pines or Motel 6 every 600 miles when they set out to see America?
  • Who knows?

Betting that there are still a lot of southern Nevadans approaching retirement who’ve not been dissuaded of their visions of RV grandeur, UNLV has planned a class for those considering purchasing a motor home. The class, titled UNLV RV 101 will be taught on Saturday, Oct. 29 at UNLV’s Paradise Campus at 851 E. Tropicana.

According to retired UNLV admissions counselor and instructor Kevin Webb, UNLV RV 101 will be a perfect introductory class about RV types, how and where to buy and which type and class best fits your needs. Plus, Kevin will offer you helpful hints about traveling in an RV, making park reservations, the benefits of club memberships, and the ins and outs of fulltime RV life.

A Nevada Department of Public Safety trooper will also be on hand to answer your questions and present information about safety on the highway and laws regarding drivers license endorsements for certain RV vehicles.

The fee for the four-hour class is $59 for a couple or single. For more information, call 895-3394 or visit the Educational Outreach web site http://edoutreach.unlv.edu
