Minuteman Foundation Fund-raising Project |
Beautiful calendar—worthy cause!
For
the 11th consecutive year, Sun City Anthem resident David Berman
is selling Las Vegas calendars at an attractive price to raise
money for The Shade Tree, the only Las Vegas-area facility
exclusively serving homeless and/or battered women and their
children.
During the first 10 years of this project, David and his wife
Rosalyn have sold and shipped more than 20,000 calendars to buyers
all over the world and have raised more than $30,000 for The Shade
Tree.
The Web site for the calendar sale is here:
http://www.nvdavidberman.com/calendars . The site also
contains a link to The Shade Tree's site so that you can learn
more about this worthy organization. |
Sharron Angle to Officially
Launch
the Nevada-Style Prop 13
Angle Property Tax Restraint Will Protect
Nevadans From Over-taxation
RENO & HENDERSON, NV - Assemblywoman Sharron Angle will be
traveling both ends of the state to officially launch her Angle
Property Tax Restraint initiative beginning this Friday October
14. Taxpayers have been expressing much anticipation and eagerness
to begin signing the petitions.
There had been concern that the petition would never see light of
day. The Legislature passed its own watered-down version of
tax-relief in March in an attempt to calm down taxpayers who have
seen their property tax bills soar out of control. Then, when
Angle filed in June to run for Congress, Nevadans thought that
meant the conservative Republican from Reno would not have time to
push her initiative.
"I made a promise to the taxpayers, and I keep my promises,"
declared Angle. "My initiative is needed to provide constitutional
property tax relief. The charade that was passed by the
Legislature is unconstitutional, and doesn’t go far enough to
protect taxpayers. Besides, the tax & spend Legislature can decide
to come back and remove their caps at any time. My Angle Property
Tax Restraint provides real and permanent relief."
Mrs. Angle filed her petition with the Secretary of State on
September 1, the first permissible date for filing. Because of new
legislation supported by Secretary of State Dean Heller, all new
initiatives must now go through a 30-day "challenge" period,
providing yet another road-block.
"It's a constitutional right for Nevada citizens to petition their
government. However, Nevadans are no longer surprised by these
delaying tactics," explained Angle. "We saw these ploys repeated
in the last election cycle, including legitimate complaints
dismissed as "bogus" by Dean Heller, and law-abiding citizens
being arrested and thrown in jail while gathering signatures. The
Tax & Spenders do what they can to remove power from the people,
but taxpayers are fed up with lawmakers who have acted to
represent special interests, while ignoring their constituents.
Nevadans are ready for a tea-party."
The initial kick-off for signature gathering will be held this
Friday Oct 14 at 9:00 AM at Sun City Anthem (Anthem Center's
Arlington Room), 2450 Hampton Road in Henderson, NV, and again at
noon on Saturday October 15 at 303 6th Street (Corner of 6th &
Evans) Reno, NV. The public is invited to attend the events and to
sign the petitions.
Angle Property Tax Restraint
Initiative
The committee of volunteers is forming here in
SCA. We will be circulating petitions for signatures to get
Sharron Angle’s Prop 13 style initiative on the ballot in 2006.
Once it is on the ballot, the taxpayers will have the opportunity
to vote yes or no.
Several villages need volunteers to help with this effort. The
villages with few or no volunteers are:
Arroyo Vista
Clubhouse
High Mesa
Meadow Vista
Model
Mountain View
Overlook
Pinnacle
Valley View
Volunteers are welcome in all villages. If you would like to help,
please contact the Tax Petition Committee at
492-0186 or 617-4410. |
