Jingle Bell Walk & Breakfast

You will receive your long sleeve T-shirt the morning of the event. After the walk we will meet for a big breakfast and entertainment.

HENDERSON, NV -- The new Seven Hills Post Office, 3055 St. Rose Parkway, will open to the public for the first time on Friday, Dec. 2 at 8:30 a.m.

Regular retail hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays. The post office will operate as a full retail and delivery unit, however, carrier deliveries will not begin until Monday, Dec. 5.

The new Seven Hills Post Office is approximately 32,000 square feet in size, housing 46 carriers that will deliver mail to 23,000 delivery points (addresses) in the 89044, 89052 and 89077 ZIP Code range and includes 944 Post Office Boxes. The Seven Hills Post Office will employ 90 employees, including letter carriers, sales associates, clerks and managers.

Henderson has grown from 67,127 in 1990 to 225,449 in 2004, earning it recognition as the nation's fastest-growing large city, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Henderson now ranks as the second-largest city in the state of Nevada.

A grand opening for the new post office is scheduled for a later date.

SCA Residents:

We are inviting any resident who would like to see the shop and meet some of the woodworking vendors and learn more about our club. Woodworkers Emporium, the local supplier of woodworking equipment will be there along with some of the manufacturers reps who provided the shop equipment. There will be refreshments along with prizes, giveaways and a raffle for some shop equipment.

Come and join the fun and see your new shop. If you are a member of the Woodchips, come on down and see how far we have progressed. If you are a resident and want to see the shop and learn about our club, please join us.

Tickets will be on sale at the Freedom Hall ticket booth beginning November 30, 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. and every Monday, Wednesday, Friday through December 14, at that time. Ticket price is $5.00. The Choraliers are trying something different this year with a setting of a glitzy New Years Eve party filled with favorite songs of the seasons of the year ending with the audience joining at the concerts end with Auld Lang Syne.

Retiree nabs vandalism suspect

Ex-deputy sheriff catches neighbor at Sun City Anthem with saw under coat

Sun City Anthem's tree killer suspect ran into the wrong guy over the weekend: a retired cop armed with a golf club.

Since November 2004 about 400 trees had been cut down in overnight sprees in the posh golfing and retirement community, so when 60-year-old William Edwards was driving home in the wee hours of Saturday morning and spotted several young trees freshly sawed off near Sun City Anthem at Scotts Valley drives , he reverted to his days as a deputy sheriff in Ventura County, Calif.

The Minuteman Foundation is the organization which provides the funding needed to support the activities of the Community Service Club. The Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) charity.


Volunteers of the COMMUNITY SERVICE CLUB provide free assistance to Sun City Anthem residents. The services included are:

Transportation: To local area medical providers or supermarkets. Three (3) business days notice required to arrange for your ride.

Equipment: We will loan you (on a temporary basis) a wheelchair, walker, crutches, cane, or other durable medical equipment.

Home Maintenance: Assistance with minor home maintenance chores such as: cleaning or replacing overhead air filters, replacing batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors, or changing overhead light bulbs.

Home Assistance: Resource Directory of information on fee-based, discount, and many other services available to seniors. Volunteers will also shop and deliver groceries or prescription medication to residents who are temporarily homebound.

Support Groups: CSC sponsors several support groups to assist the residents of Sun City Anthem. These groups are:

  • Living “Well” with Disabilities (physical mobility)
    2nd Tuesday, 1—2:30 p.m., Anthem Center

  • Alzheimer’s Caregivers
    3rd Monday, 6:30—8:30 p.m., Former Sewing Room

  • Bereavement (non denominational) Former Sewing Room
    1st Saturday, 4—5:30 p.m.
    2nd Wednesday, 4:00—5:30 p.m.
    3rd Tuesday, 7—8:30 p.m.
    4th Wednesday, 4:00—5:30 p.m.

  • One on one guidance through Jewish bereavement protocol

  • One on one grief counseling for loss of a child

  • Friends of Bill W. (for recovering alcoholics)
    Every Monday, 7:00 p.m., Anthem Center

  • Home Caregivers (for those caring for a loved one at home)
    Every third Monday 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Anthem Center
