We are Short!

We are in dire need of residents to adopt the remaining children from the Angel Tree that is on display at Anthem Center. About 70 names out of the 110 names that were requested still do not have a sponsor willing to purchase a gift to be returned to the Center for delivery to Hinman School for Christmas.

The procedure for obtaining a name is a little different this year. Anyone wanting to select a child's name needs to stop at the membership desk. You will be given the book containing names, ages and interests and you may select a child from that list. Your name will be written by the child's name so your gift can be marked off when it is delivered by you to the Center.

Del Webb/Pulte has organized this activity in the past with great success and wonderful appreciation by the children, families and school staff. With the change to Association Control we should be able to carry on this thoughtful tradition started by the builder. Even though it is quickly nearing Christmas, please consider fitting in a shopping trip that would include purchasing a gift for a child that would otherwise not be receiving something special for Christmas.

Many reasons may have contributed to the slow response to the tree this year, but with time rapidly vanishing we are hoping for a quick and positive response. Even a small gift or an item of clothing will be appreciated. There are sometimes several requests from a child but the resident may use their judgement when deciding what to purchase and how much to spend on a gift. Usually there are several suggestions so you can decide which one you would like to provide.

Thank you for considering this urgent request and thank you to all who have already adopted a child's name. Please urge your friends and neighbors to consider doing so, also.

More on Passports

Dave McGovern, a resident of Sun City Anthem and proprietor of the UPS Store at 10624 S. Eastern, Ste. A, sent me a note indicating that the City of Henderson charges a $30 processing fee for assisting you with a passport.

He provided the following link to determine all nearby facilities that offer passport services. The U.S. Postal Service locations do not have that additional fee.

Enter your ZIP Code, and the site will return the facility name, address, phone number an approximate distance from your ZIP location. Click on the Facility name and a page will be returned showing the hours it is open.
