"Dear Chuck...I would like you
investigate the proposed move of the current Security Patrol
office from its current location to the Independnce Hall in a
very remote location to accomodate TRUMPETS instead of our
residencts. Quite alot of our residents are up in arms about
this move and we will lose quite a few volunteers. Shamefull!! I
have written a letter to the board and have asked a member of
the security patrol to support this effort to deture this move,
as I believe this is inappropriate to the community and the
service the security patrol provides. Please help the security
patrol to secure its current location and not let TRUMPETS,
because they want to occupy an office for themselves and move
the the maintenance to the existing sercuity office. I view this
as an INSULT to our residents. Thanks for your help"
______________________________
Instead of "investigating" I am responding as
one of the players in the acquisition of this great facility.
Early in 2003, Favil West, acting as a resident, met with senior
officers of Del Webb requesting consideration be given to donating
a building to SCACAI for use by its service groups.
Once Del Webb showed interest, Favil asked Bob Berman the founder
of the Security Patrol and its first Chief, now a member of the
Board of Directors and Dick Cancellier then the Chief of Security
Patrol, to meet and discuss the requirements, design and
development of a community services building. After nearly a year
of meeting with senior management of Del Webb and the operating
committee Del Webb Communities, Inc. donated the building to the
Association specifically for:
- The Minuteman Foundation
- Emergency Preparedness Group
- Community Service Group
- Security Patrol
- Communications
The use of the building by the service group and
the fact that all of these groups would be working together in the
event of an emergency was the major factor in selling our idea for
this building to Del Webb. Frankly, it is unlikely that they would
have donated this building to us if the Security Patrol was not
included.
One goal was to provide a huge increase of office space for the
Security Patrol in a building with state-of-the-art security.
This image is from a file that I created for Favil, Bob & Dick on
March 10, 2003. It indicates the organizations that might occupy
the structure. Note that the Security Patrol is at the right.

This
image is from another file that I created for Favil, Bob and Dick on September 11, 2003.
It shows the requested square footage for each service
organization. Note that the Security Patrol is again at the right.
The total square footage presented is 3,900 plus tare (unusable space).
Security Patrol had asked for 800 square feet to
provide emergency facilities for Solera and Sun City Anthem.
This last image that I created was on May 11, 2004. It is very close to the actual building that
Del Webb Communities, Inc. gave to the service organizations of
our Sun City Anthem. I was present on two occasions when it presented to
Del Webb's Project Manager and Architect. Security Patrol was now asking for 480 square
feet recognizing the changing requirements that showed no need for
provisions for Solera.
The facts are:
- Security Patrol leaders stated
requirements from the beginning.
 |
- The facility concepts were presented to
Security Patrol several times.
- The Sun City Anthem Board of Directors
has not been approached by Trumpets for access to the
present Security Patrol facility and as far as is known,
is not interested in that area. Trumpets has never bee
mentioned in the same context.

Attention Sun City Anthem Residents
The Sun City Anthem Covenants Committee is
recruiting for a new member.
The Covenants Committee meets every second Wednesday of the month
from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Anthem Center.
The Covenants Committee is comprised of Sun City Anthem members
and serves as the Hearing Panel for the Association. The Hearings
provide due process for our members, and is very effective in
resolving various compliance issues covered in our Governing
Documents.
The Committee determines whether or not a violation exists and
recommends sanctions to the Association's Board of Directors who
review their recommendations, and impose the sanctions, which can
include fines and/or loss of membership privileges.
If you are interested in becoming a member, please submit a resume
or short bio to the Community Standards office and an interview
will be arranged.

Larry E. Attebery
Friday morning, May 5th, Sun City Anthem lost a
trusted friend, a man who many of us grew to know through watching
TV in the Los Angeles Area and others through his work at Sun City
Anthem. Yesterday marked the passing of our friend Larry Attebery.
Larry was a personal friend of mine and a person who I admired
very much. He was a kind and considerate person, a team player who
never brought a personal agenda to the table. I never heard him
complain, although there was certainly some things to complain
about. I never saw him sad and certainly he had things to be sad
about. He was a man who could be relied on to get things done. He
was a man to call friend.
Larry was a charter member of the Board of Trustees of The
Minuteman Foundation and has served as its Vice President. He
served on the Emergency Preparedness Committee, the Communications
Task Force of the Transition Committee, Chairman of the Lifestyle
Committee, and Team Leader of the Broadcast Media Team, as well as
several ad hoc committees. He is probably best known for his work
in helping to bring Channel 99 from irrelevance to being viewed as
a vital part of our community.
During his working days Larry won every award possible in the
broadcast TV field. At Larry’s 73rd birthday party a grateful
community presented Larry with a plaque thanking him for his work
at Sun City Anthem.
As I sit here contemplating our friendship over the past 5 years I
can only say; So long Larry, you will be missed.

Thank You!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank
the 996 people who voted for me in this most recent Board of
Directors Election. My wife would like to thank the 19+ people who
did not vote for me since the outcome met her desires.
On a more serious note, I would like to congratulate the winners
and to say that it has been my honor to serve this community for
the past year. I hope to continue my public service in some way in
the future. If you see me wheeling around the center, say hi.
Regards,
Robert Sansing |
