Recreation Center 3 Survey Results

To: All Residents

The non binding survey on Recreation Center 3 was opened and counted yesterday morning by a random group of residents. The results showed only an 8% advantage of No versus Yes votes. After reviewing the results, it is the general feeling of the board that:

  1. The increase in the operating costs of building 3 as well as the difference in Yes and No votes was insufficient to override the promises made by Pulte.
  2. The building design will enhance the community.

A number of you have asked me why the board undertook a process to inform the residents of the actual usage of our facilities. Let me begin by saying that for those of you who have not attended many board meetings over the years, surveys were rarely taken on issues such as this. Last year, on the occasion of my election to the presidency, we started allowing residents to speak on action items, before a motion was made and before a vote was taken. This survey was a continuum of the doctrine of allowing resident to give their opinion on issues.

Some of you have made claims that Dave Weil gave you false data. Whether you like the data or not is immaterial. What is material is that the data was factual and Dave did a great job of assembling the data and presenting it in an organized manner.

Others have said that Favil West and/or other board members are against the construction of Recreation Center 3. Those of you who know me or who bothered to ask me my position know the answer. It appears the rest of you believed what you were fed.

One of the things you need to know is that at no time during the survey was the design phase of building 3 delayed or halted.

You might want to check the President’s report on Channel 99 where Jeremy Fritz and I will discuss Recreation Center 3 and present to you the exterior elevations.

On behalf of the board, thank you for returning your surveys.

President, Sun City Anthem Community Association, Inc.
