Address List Generation...
| There seems to be a lot of interest in understanding
just how I developed my Community Wide address list. It was a long
laborious process. I will attempt to describe the process so that anyone
that has the interest can accomplish the same. All information
gathered is a matter of Public record. |
 | The first thing to be done is to open a spreadsheet program. I
am currently using Microsoft Office 2007 Excel.
 | You will want to create a number of columns with headings
such as:
 | Last name |
 | First name(s) |
 | House number |
 | Street name |
 | City |
 | State |
 | ZIP |
|
 | I have many more, including the mailing address, (mailing address may be different
for various reasons)
 | Last name (may be the same) |
 | First names(s) |
 | House number (or blank if PO Box) |
 | Street or PO Box number |
 | City |
 | State |
 | ZIP |
|
|
|
|
|
- On opening the home page, the primary links of value are on the
upper left of the page. Start by clicking on Address.
|
 |
- The Search by Location page will open. Enter the street name
(don't include St., Ave, Rd, etc.)
- Then click on the Submit button, or simply press the Enter key
on your keyboard.
|
 |

- Each house on the street will be returned in numeric sequence.
In this instance, there are five pages of lists, each containing up
to 25 entries. Begin at the top of the list and click on the Parcel
Number link in the right column.
|
| Note: The parcel number that I had selected happened to be one with
a mailing address (San Jose, CA) that differs from the location of the
property (2382 Sandstone Cliffs Dr) |
 |
- Type the information into your Excel spreadsheet.
- Return to the browser, click the Return button
- Click on the next Parcel Number and repeat Steps 4, 5, and 6.
- When you have completed all entries for the street, return to
Step 2.
- There are 7,144 entries to be made.
|
Optional exercise
I created as second sheet on my spreadsheet to provide summary
information. The current numbers are shown below: |
